July Playlist

1. “When I Grow Up” by NF

NF often writes about his real life and real feelings and this song is no exception. “When I Grow Up” is a message about how people perceive careers in the music industry. The background has a bit of a music box beat and the chorus has intense nodding and fist bumping vibes.

The music video is filled with important jobs that are never taken seriously. Without these jobs, people would live in a world filled with inconvenience and filth; someone has to do these jobs and there should be no shame in that. That is exactly what NF portrays through his lyrics.

2. “Trying My Best” by Anson Seabra

Anson Seabra’s lyrics are the embodiment of teenage angst. Most people can relate to the many focus of “Trying My Best.” With its soft piano and even softer vocals, the song is perfect for venting and just relaxing.

3. “Need To Calm Down” by Taylor Swift

Released on June 17, the song is perfect for Pride. The video is filled with cameos, color and chaos, which is common in Swift’s world. “Need To Calm Down” is the second song Taylor Swift has released this year, which will be on her new album “Lover.”

The catchy yet deep lyrics are masked by her relatively new electro-pop sound, but that does not make it any less deep. She faces the truth of modern hatred. It is definitely a perfect summer 2019 song.

4. “Must Have Been the Wind” by Alec Benjamin

Alec Benjamin’s angelic voice, a soft guitar and simple drum beat combined to make a song that can be played on repeat all day. With lyrics hinting to abuse and friendship, Benjamin delivers it so subtly.
